Sawyers Forestry Co. was founded in 2013 during the height of the California drought with the main objective of providing Santa Cruz and its neighboring communities a dedicated Wildfire Fuel Reduction service provider.
All of our 'sawyers' have substantial experience in wild-land operations and extensive knowledge of Cal-fire Defensible Space & wildfire fuel reduction regulations. Our team is focused, knowledgeable and skilled with over 50 years of combined experience in Wildfire Fuel Reduction and Forestry work between our main operators.
We have helped 100's of local property owners create Defensible Space and gain peace of mind. We strive to provide our clients with an efficient, low impact, and cost effective option to keep their homes and property as safe as possible from wildfire threats.

Q: What is "Defensible Space"?
A: Defensible Space refers to a 100' zone around your home that is cleared of dry and dense vegetation in order to help protect your home from an encroaching wildfire.

Q: What makes you Eco-Friendly?
A: We use low impact methods and biodegradable chainsaw bar oil along with clean-burning gasoline additives. We are strictly a poisonless vegetation management company and avid supporters of rain forest re-forestation and tree conservation. For every 500sqf of vegetation cleared we fund the planting of a tree managed by 'One Tree Planted™'. Sawyers Forestry Co. is also paperless company.

Q: How long does it take and how much does it cost to clear an acre?
A: There are several factors that dictate how long and how much it costs to clear land. Terrain, Grade, Vegetation Density, and Processes required all play a pivotal role in how we approach and bid a project. Q: What is the difference between Sawyers Forestry Co. and a tree company?
A: We are not a tree care service provider. Our #1 goal is to reduce as much ground and ladder fuels as possible, with the sole purpose of creating Defensible Space by reducing Wildfire Fuels. We do not provide tree climbing, mature tree felling or cabling.

Q: What is the difference between Sawyers Forestry Co. and a landscape company?
A: We do not provide landscaping services such as lawn mowing, pruning, or hand weeding. Our primary objective is to create Defensible Space, Shaded Fuel Breaks, and Hard Fire Lines.
